Bonide - Ground Force Vegetation Killer

BONIDE | Ground Force Vegetation Killer

Now is the time to be thinking about weeds you had last year and planning for control this year.  Depending on where the weeds were growing and what kind of weeds they were determines the type of control one should use.

Let’s identify what kind of weeds there are to control.  Pick a leaf off the weed, turn it over and look at the veins on the back.  A broadleaf weed has a center vein, with veins branching off.  A grass weed has all the veins parallel to the blade.  The first step is done identifying what type of weed you have broadleaf or grass.

Why does it matter?  It helps you determine what category of weed control to use.   As you are looking at the choices to control weeds, and there are many, they are classified three categories.   They control broadleaf weeds or control grassy weeds, called selective weed control or control all weeds, called non-selective weed control.

Now let’s evaluate where the weeds are.   Are weeds growing near vegetables or edibles?   Are they growing in or near the lawn, flowers, ornamentals, trees or shrubs?  The second part to where they are growing is in the lawn, near water, on a hill or slope or in the sidewalk, driveway or patio area?  This important as some controls are not for use around edibles, including fruit trees.  If on a hill runoff can be of concern.  Driveway, sidewalk or patio may have desirable plant roots underneath.

With basic understanding of weeds, Ground Force Vegetation Killer is a non-selective that kills all vegetation and leaves a residual in the soil to prevent any vegetation re-growing in the treated area for up to 1 year.

  • It kills all weeds and grasses, roots and all
  • It is fast acting and usually Rainfast in 1 hour
  • Prevents vegetation regrowth for up to 1 year.
  • Use where no vegetation is wanted.

Key factors for successful use of Ground Force Vegetation Killer.

  • Only apply to areas where no vegetation is desired.
  • Keep people and pets out of the area during application.  Enter area only after the treated area has had time to dry.
  • Apply on a sunny day above 60*F, for best absorption
  • Thoroughly cover vegetation and the ground with product mixture.  A watering can works well or if using a sprayer turn the nozzle to a coarse spray, so enough product gets on the plants and into the soil.
  • Since this product leaves a residual to prevent returning vegetation, beware of desirable plants and their roots.
  • Note- if weeds taller than 6 inches mow them 2 days before application.
  • Note- Do not use if you intend to plant this area.  Choose a product without a residual.

Spring is around the corner and we are all preparing.  Enjoy it without weeds!
