Potatoes are one of the easiest root crops to grow! They grow in average soil, and a small area can provide an excellent yield of this tasty vegetable. Due to its compact size, ‘Red Norland’ is ideal for small gardens. It is an outstanding red potato with shallow eyes and excellent flavor. It was developed for northern growers but is widely adaptable. Grow your own delicious ‘Red Norland’ potatoes for roasting, salads, and your favorite soups! Plant in early spring in a sunny location. Water weekly through warm summer weather but do not overwater. Till the soil to a depth of 10–12". Place one seed potato into the tilled dirt 4–6" deep. Then, cover with soil. Cover with additional soil as the plants develop. Always be certain the surface tubers are covered with soil. Water potatoes thoroughly. When planting and in the fall, mix garden compost into the soil.
